About This Blog...

Hope you enjoy my musings. Love to hear your comments. This is my first attempt at writing a blog so don't be too harsh with me. We should all take the opportunity to share our thoughts and ideas with others. That's how the early church leaders did it. That's how our founding father's did it here in the good old USA. That's how we need to do it too. Look forward to hearing from you and look forward to seeing what God is doing in your life as I share what He is doing in my life and the life of our church.

Blessings

The Glory Has Faded
June 5, 2012
I wrote last week about vacation and our time at the beach. My daughter who has a deep rich complexion is tan and golden sun kissed. My wife who has passed those genes of a rich deep complexion that tans so eaasily is also sun kissed. How is it that I simply burn? No sun kissing on my pale skin. Only a deep red, like a lobster after being dipped in the boiling water. But even that red burn has faded.

Moses, when he spent time on the mountain top with God would come down "glowing" in God's glory. So much so he covered his face with a veil upon coming down as to not scare the Isrealites. But as time passed the glory faded and Moses was pale like me once again.

And even as my "tan" (and I use that term loosely) fades and my paleness returns so often in our spiritual lives the glory fades. We experience highs and mountain top experiences that fill us with the glory of God and our communion with Him is at its best, but after that experience, so often each of us come down from the mountain and fade back to normal.

My fading tan reminds me of this very issue and challenges me to seek an ongoing and intense relationship with God. We need to maintain that mountain top abode. We need to move to the mountain top and simply reside there (spiritually). We need to seek the ongoing glory of God. Not just when we visit the mountain top but each and every day.

Far too often the glory of God fades from our lives as we spend time away from him. That is not good for us. It's not good for me and it's not good for you. We need to remain in the light of the glory of God and that takes a commitment from you and me to do just that. We are tempted to come down from the mountain back into the mundane world of the other people that don't seek the glory, but we cant succomb to that temptation.

We must persevere and push on to the top of the mountain where God's glory resides and waits for us. You know a sun tan looks good on just about everyone, but in everyone, that tan fades as time in the sun is reduced and as the seasons change. But God is unchanging and his glory does not fade as long as we stay in proximity of it. My tan has faded. My skin has peeled. My paleness has returned. My prayer is that God's glory will not fade from your life, as a tan does from your skin.

Stay on the mountain top and stay close to the glory and all will go well.
Blessings

You gave a really good analogy. It is really hard to stay up on that mountain top, trying not to fade, but that should be our aim. May God's glory continue to shine in your life. Have a great day.
